Knowing the Consumer Rights:

March 15th is celebrated as the national Consumers day all over the world. Consumer satisfaction is the very important thing which a company producing different products and services have to consider as the consumers are the ultimate users and their satisfaction is the responsibility of the company as well as it is very essential to survive in this competitive market where the company has to satisfy consumers related to quality, price and availability of the products.

Some of the important rights which every consumer can enjoy and have to be aware are:

1) Safety rights.
In the consumer protection Act 1986 it is stated that any consumer products which are dangerous or unsafe, which may effect your health and safety mainly in the healthcare, food processing, automobiles, travel etc. consumers have all the right to file a case against the company if the company is not considering the safety of the consumers. All the consumers have to be aware of this right.

2) Information rights:
The consumers have all the right to have the information regarding the quality, quantity, purity, contents, price of goods and services etc. Every consumer product will have to be labeled with all this basic information including the ingredients and the quality certificate. If the company is not providing this basic information, the consumers have all the right to claim a complaint against the company according to the consumer protection act 1986.

3) Rights for choice:
Rights for choice can be defined as; the consumers have all the right to choose their products between the competitor’s products available. In the other words there should not be monopoly in the market and the consumers should have all the right to choose the products of their choice according to the Consumer protection Act of 1986.
Consumers have all the right to file case to protect their rights for choice.

4) Consumer education rights:
Each citizen of the country has to be educated and has to be aware of the consumer rights. It is the responsibility of the government to make them educated and aware about the consumer rights. If the people are aware about their rights, they can take better decisions in choosing their products and also availing services related to medical care, education, travel, etc.
